About The P.A. Hutchison Company
Your one source for Any Book Quantity, Any Size!
Founded in 1911, P. A. Hutchison has grown from a small black & white letterpress shop to a high-tech printing company serving customers throughout the United States. Under the guidance of four generations of Hutchisons, we have become a mid-sized book manufacturer whose expansion is continuing and has received industry acknowledgement through American Printer's Top 50 Fastest Growing Printer Awards and Printing Impressions Top 400 Rankings. We are located in a suburb of Scranton, Pennsylvania.
In 2011, The P. A. Hutchison Company reaches a huge milestone - our centennial year. One hundred years of printing and book manufacturing is no small feat, and we're celebrating by continuing to look for ways to grow into our second century. When Philip Alvord Hutchison first formed his company in 1911 the space was small, but his ambitions were large. There were only a few machines in the print shop, but hard work and smart decisions soon led him to prosper. Now, with Chris Hutchison as the fourth generation to lead the company, we're ready to embark on another 100 year journey. We're focused on the fast-changing needs of the book manufacturing market, and we continue to evaluate technology options and acquire the new equipment that will allow us to stay on top of our customers' needs.
Constantly Looking to the Future

Much like television and radio, books are a key to human communication. However, one advantage to books is that they offer a level of permanence and tangibility that electronic and broadcast media can not. Just as our society and our technology continue to evolve, the nature of books is changing - in content, in format and in quantity. As we move forward in time, and information continues to be collected and assimilated, it generates a need for more books. As subjects continue to narrow in scope, the books that are generated tend to have smaller audiences. These factors have forced publishers to increase efforts to design more eye-appealing books while lowering inventory levels to maintain profitability. These same facts are forcing book manufacturing to adapt, creating new methods to deal with the new realities. Much like television and radio, books are a key to human communication.
